BIPEA is a European non-profit organization located in France. Gathering + 2600 member laboratories in the world (throughout 130 countries), it offers more than 220 regular proficiency testing programs.

CREATION OF BIPEA

In 1970, professional entities in grain and milling sector, INRA (National Institute of Agronomic Research) and CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) decided to create a permanent and autonomous structure, which main missions are organizing interlaboratory comparisons programs and giving technical assistance to laboratories: BIPEA was officially created on September 3rd, 1970.
BIPEA’s founding members are mainly professional organizations in the sectors of production and storage (list of founding members).

BIPEA TODAY

When it was created, BIPEA counted 60 laboratories and provided 8 proficiency testing programs in the fields of grains and milling.

In the early 1990s, BIPEA decided to launch proficiency testing programs in the fields of agri-food and contaminant(s).

PT programs in the field of Environment have been created in the end of the 1990s.

In 2009, BIPEA innovated through the creation of PT programs in the field of cosmetics, especially sunscreen products.

In 2020 BIPEA develops its offer to the pharmaceutical market.

BIPEA has also been expending internationally, increasing the number of participants in its PT programs.
