An interprofessional structure

HISTORY

Bipea (Bureau InterProfessionnel d'Etude Analytique) is a non-profit making association. It was created in 1970, on initiative of the professional organizations of the fields of production, of storage and transformation of cereals and of manufacture of feed for animal. Since the 80s, Bipea has varied and opened itself to other fields, such as Environment and food industries.

MISSIONS

Bipea's missions are :

  • Organizing interlaboratory comparisons tests to define the laboratories capacity.
  • Assistance for laboratories to manage, maintain and improve their performances.

SOME FIGURES

Today, Bipea is :

  • About 1 050 members, coming from different horizons : industries, cooperations, administrations, research centers, service providers, departmental and local services, hospitals...
  • 2 600 participations in proficiency testing schemes
  • 6 000 sample preparations per month, with more than 100 raw materials
  • 5 000 expeditions per month to 55 countries all over the world
  • 60 000 data points processed each month

And a team of 19 people.

The association, based on the principle of voluntary adhesion, now gathers 1 000 members from 50 countries.

ACTIVITIES

To lead these missions, Bipea develops the following products and services :

  • Organization of interlaboratory proficiency testing schemes, going from the munufacture of homogeneous samples to the statistical treatment of the associated results (see Proficiency testing schemes)
  • Management of technical controls for the organism which gives agreements, in the aim of delivering agreements and enablings to laboratories (see Our other activities)
  • Supplying of External Reference Material issued from the interlaboratory comparison tests (see Our other activities)
  • Realization of Custom Works adapted to the total or partial implementation of specific interlaboratory comparisions (see Our other activities)
  • Organization of Training Courses in the different fields concerned by the Bipea's activities and for the laboratories staff, in the aim of optimizing their technicity.(see Our other activities).

Finally, Bipea is working on the development of new activities, such as for example, the placing at the laboratories' disposal of cards to follow-up their results.

The General Assembly

Every Bipea's member is convened to an Ordinary General Assembly once a year, by a personal mail indicating you the agenda. If he can not go there, the member can send a representative. He just needs to send his attributed power back.

The Board of Directors (BOD)

It is made up of a college with a maximum of 20 members, elected during the General Assembly, and which represent the professional fields of activity of Bipea. They choose the strategic and financial orientations of the Association, proposed by the Bipea's Chairman, during the sessions of the Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors' Bureau

It is the representative authority of the Board of Directors which can be regularly consulted by the Bipea's Chairman in order to solve the difficulties of current management. Its member are elected by the Board of Directors itself, and it is composed of :

  • the President
  • the Vice-President (from 1 to 3)
  • the Treasurer
  • the Secretary

President of Specialized committee

A committee, who is in charge of its management, corresponds to each proficiency testing scheme. Each committee is chaired by one of its members who has been elected. The President of committee directs the choices and decisions in order to optimize the scheme's functioning.

The Technical Board of Management (T.B.M.)

It is the warrant of Bipea's competence thanks to its regular participation to technical validations and to the choices made after the returns of results. Its role is defined in the "Interior Settlement of the Technical Board of Management". The composition of the Technical Board of Management is :

  • The presidents of Specialized committees
  • Scientific Advisers
  • Designated Members

The Technical Board of Management's Bureau

It is the representative authority of the Technical Board of Management who can be regularly consulted by the Bipea's Chairman in order to solve technical difficulties.

Its members are elected by the The Technical Board of Management itself, and it is composed of :

  • the President
  • the Vice-President
  • 6 Members
